Boeing to Make KC-X Tanker Announcement Today

We want to thank you for your continued encouragement, particularly over the past months. As we pored over the requirements spelled out in the Air Force's final Request for Proposal, it struck us that we couldn't have reached this point without our stellar team of employees, suppliers and friends.

So we wanted you to be the first to know that, after reviewing the final RFP, Boeing is ready to make a KC-X Tanker announcement at 1:00 pm EST on UnitedStatesTanker.com.

Third times a charm????

This sounds like another great Boeing plane. Why isn’t Boeing presenting both platforms, 767 and 777 version of the tanker? I understand that it is the company’s understanding of the RFP that the 767 is the right sized platform to do the job, but Boeing thought it was the right sized platform the last go around also (Thank goodness for the successful protest). My other thought on offering both sized platforms is the threat of a dual buy from both Boeing and NG/EADS, if Boeing presented both platforms in this bidding round, and then there would be no ammunition for the NG/EADS proposal to get half of the contract.
